Please include these changes:

Two commits to have the .a and .so targets and hide unexported names.
a memory leak I found when using the default device (more important when you call ..._poll(NUL, ...) several times from the same process). Thanks for the project!

Please clone my devel branch and submit a new pull request to that repo. Too much has changed in the codebase for this to be merged as-is.
