Eilat Ilan and Assaf Ramon International Airport or "Ramon International Airport" in short, is the new airport to serve the Eilat region, Israel.
The airport was inaugurated on January 21st, 2019. The airport is going to replace the current Eilat airport, located within the city limits. The airport is named after Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli Astronaut, who died in the Columbia space shuttle disaster in 2003; and after his son, Assaf Ramon, who died in an air accident during his service in the airforce. The airport code ETM resembles Eilat and the Timna Valley, where it is situated.
