Synopsis: The story of a single guy who, after agreeing to take in his sister's twin newborns, has to juggle babies and babes.
Starring: Dieter Dalmer, Kevin Butterman, Masho, Lavetrious Kennedy, Nanct, & Danct
Director: Rainer Wolz
Producer: Alan Yaffa
Writer: Mark Pommerance
Production company: CBS
Release date: 1983
Fun Facts:
Rainer Wolz decided to shoot Bachelor Nanny simultanously and on the same location as his documentary about the Dushkir indigenous tribe (a people who live in the Dushkir Valley, a desolate area between Russia and Kazakhstan) during their Tusian sheep breeding season. A sound stage was built, and all the props were made by the Dushkir. The chief's daughter, Masho, was even given a leading role in the production.
Comedian Gary Jack was originally signed on to play the lead. However, the Soviet Union had outlawed the practice of indigenous activities, and, when footage came out of Jack participating in a Dushkir game, he was arrested by the KGB, and his fate remains unknown.
With only two shoots left to take of the pilot episode, shooting was halted as raiders from the neighboring Conca tribe invaded the village. Filming was resumed the next day.
Bachelor Nanny was a massive hit when it first premiered. It was nominated for 7 primetime Emmy awards, and 11 creative arts Emmys. However, when Dalmer lost the Emmy to Michael J. Fox, he immediately quit the show, and television entirely.
