Hello,
I use regularly PHG guiding (with sequence generator pro) and I appreciate this
software, thank you for sharing your job.
I have a little question : why PHD guiding does not support binning ?, I thing
this feature could be useful, specially with modern sensors with small pixel.
Binning could improve the sensitivity and the pixel size of this sensor for a
more comfortable guiding specially when OAG is used. For example I have a
QHY5l-II camera which have 3,75µ pixels, using binning give about 7µm/pixel
that is correct but whit a great increase in sensitivity. The new ascom driver
for this camera support now the binning and it is a little frustrating that
this function is not supported by PHD.
Can we hope to see the binning implemented in the future version of PHD guiding?

Hi.

I use a lodestar autoguider, with a mount that is not as perfect as I'd like,
my seeing is better than the mounts wanderings. This means I get best
performance by 'chasing the seeing' and go for fast guiding.

The issue with the old Phdguide is that by downloading in 1x1 it takes about
200ms, by downloading in 2x2 we should be closer to 50ms, which is a big
difference on 0.5second guide frames. I'm using an OAG on a 1500mmfl so can
afford 'big pixels', in fact this would give me pixels about 3x the size of my
imaging pixels which I believe is close to optimal.

so +1 for binning options please, so long as they are 'hardware binning'.. at
least on the lodestar.

thanks for the great code so far.
