We all love and cherish Ruby. Most of us discovered the True Power™ of Ruby doing Ruby on Rails application development. Most of us re-discovered programming - coming from Java, PHP or Perl - as Ruby provides a very fast and pragmatic way of doing development.

But, what if we were daydreaming all those years? What if we - consciously - avoided to see the changes that were happening outside of the Ruby ecosystem?

In this presentation, I will do a retrospective of what has changed in the last couple of years, and what remains of the Ruby wow effect from outside of its very own ecosystem.

Oui, c'est un condensé d'un truc un peu plus conséquent que j'avais en tête de longue date.

We want to buy a good audio recording device. Before buying one, we will try one next Wednesday. Thus, you should be able to listen to the talks a few days after the meetup :-)

I have a spare Yeti microphone that I'm happy to lend for the next year. It's a beast though! I can bring it in January.

I have a Zoom H2 and a camera that can record HD video. I only have one tabletop tripod though. I'll bring everything.
