“Formalize” replacements weirding tweets #463

There is a function formalize in data/js/ui.status_box.js that applies a number of replacements, e.g., “There is no magic. There is only knowledge, more or less hidden,” Merryn said in Gene Wolfe’s The Book of the New Sun. <3 is turned into 「There is no magic. There is only knowledge, more or less hidden,」 Merryn said in Gene Wolfe』s The Book of the New Sun. ♥.

Some people may find the heart replacement to be a cute easter egg, but I don’t know if there are any circumstances under which any of the other replacements would be useful, and personally, I usually even want my <3 to show up in a tweet when I type it or I would’ve copied in the Unicode character myself.

Please make these replacements optional and possibly deactivated by default.
