VVC build error: no known conversion for argument 1... #991

The source repo is in an unresolved state (commit e9fe4302 "Merge branch 'master' into 'master'" failed); should be solved upstream soon. Last known good commit is 14a70bbb.

also it blocks the whole script shouldn't it be ignored like mplayer if there is an issue?

I would agree. And to add a remark to the choice that this encoder is experimental, without final specifications, and may require SSE4 to even execute at all (means, print its own help text).

For now, the reported error has been solved upstream.
