Beamdog has reworked the original games and released "Enhanced Editions" which bring great improvements in regard to compatibility with new OSes and multiplayer connectivity.
However they also made changes which some players didn't like. Some due to licensing issues, some to add content to boost sales, some because they thought the original developers did something wrong.
e.g.
Remove 3d animated movies and replaced them with hand drawn animations
Added characters and quests (which some claim do not have the same level of quality as original ones)
Changed magical weapons, spell animations and spell scaling
Changed character portraits
and more.
GoG. is the only place to still get the original unaltered games legally.
You can claim them when you have purchased the corresponding enhanced edition.
"Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga" can be claimed by buying "Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition"
"Baldur's Gate 2 Complete" can be claimed by buying "Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition"
