Cannot create new file with latest VLF #12

After updating to the recent VLF, whenever I try to create a file, Emacs cannot create and gives this error:

find-file-noselect: Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, nil

After removing VLF, the error fades away. So I believe there's a bug somewhere.

Thank you for the head-up! I pushed changes with little testing and here we go. I've fixed this and several other issues that happen when enabling VLF for all file operations. There may be other, I'll have a closer look later.
