Is the audio stuttering as well? If so, it's usually because you would need to
increase the audio buffer size in File>Settings. EOF may lag more if you use
larger window sizes, try if it works better by going into File>Display>Display
and setting 640x480. Or if this only happens with one chart you're working on
and not others, it's possible there's something strange about the audio that is
causing EOF to act glitchy?

Audio is playing fine, And I have this problem with about 95% of the charts. I
tried to increase audio buffer size and it didn't help at all. When I changed
display settings to 640x480 eof stuttered once. When i change back to 1100x768
and checked ten songs it was OK. But on occasion it worked fine before so I
think, that doesn't solve the problem.

Did other releases of EOF have this issue? This hasn't been reported
elsewhere, so it's possible there's something with your computer setup that
isn't meshing well with EOF.

I used versions: 1177, 1175 and one or two others of eof 1.8. EOF 1.71 worked
perfectly. But when i used 1.8, and then switched to 1.71 I had same problem on
1.71.

Check to make sure you don't have any errant programs using up an unusual
amount of processor time. People occasionally run into inexplicable problems
that are gone by the time they reboot their computer, which would be worth a
try since you're now seeing the problem in a version EOF that worked fine for
you before.

I used EOF 1.8 for about 2 weeks like this before I posted my problem here. I
just checked my RAM, my hard disk is fine too. But like I said before, "When I
changed display settings to 640x480 eof stuttered once. When i change back to
1100x768 and checked ten songs it was OK." And since than works fine. I don't
know how is that possible.

If it's working fine now, it must have been a software issue on your computer
that has come and gone. In my own usage, I've found that some programs running
in the background (ie. Audacity) place more load on the system than others and
can lead to EOF lagging more.

I just run the virtualdub, set it to low priority, CPU usage reached about 90%
and then i played song in EOF, and it worked good. And I reinstalled my system
recently, and before reinstall worked bad too.

So in the future I will pay close attention to what I did, when this problem
appears again. Thanks for your time.

If you were encoding video while trying to play back the chart in EOF, that
could definitely help it lag. EOF is somewhat CPU intensive. I'll keep this
ticket open for a while in case you find the problem comes back.

And it is back. I'm sorry, worked completely fine for about 30 hours. Tell me
what to check and I will check it. I have absolutely no idea why it works like
that. I didn't change anything in this last 30 hours.

I can't think of anything. EOF's behavior is not something that will change
from one day to the next, there must be something coming and going with your
computer. Your best bet is to close out any other programs you have running
and see how it goes from there. If it still lags, your OS or other installed
software could be doing something else like running a virus scan, a backup, a
search index, etc. that is keeping the computer busy. Opening task manager,
selecting the processes tab and sorting the CPU column in descending order may
give the best indication of what's using the processing.

I closed every process i could except my antivirus. My cpu usage was less than
1%. And it's still the same. I will try to run windows in safe mode and then i
will try from the bootable cd.
Original comment by Username...@gmail.com

I couldn't run EOF in a safe mode, because i couldn't load audio driver. But
after reboot works fine again. I think I ran all the programs that I use on a
daily basis, but they didn't affect EOF.

I know what the problem is. It's one of my application. While I was using Eof
switched to it and EOF crashed. The problem is that I don't know how to copy
crash report.

Once in a blue moon if I change between EOF and another program, EOF will crash
unexpectedly, but I never find a way to cause it to happen on purpose.

You are right. I tried to do this again and again, and it didn't worked. Anyway
it says that problem is in "alleg44.dll".

That log mentions "bgd.dll", which from what I can tell is related to "GDI", a
pre-DirectX graphics library. After you re-installed Windows, did you install
the appropriate driver for your graphics hardware and install other stuff like
the DirectX runtime
(http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429)?

What are the chances that Fofix causes this? I rebooted my computer, checked
4-5 songs in EOF and everything was fine. I played Fofix, then I opened song
that I played in EOF and it started to do that thing again. I rebooted my
computer about 5 times and the result was the same. I'm using Fofix 3.121.

There's not going to be any easy way for me to tell, since it seems to be a
problem localized to your computer. Are you leaving FoFiX running when trying
to use EOF?
Original comment by raynebc
on 20 Aug 2013 at 4:28
I'm always closing FoFiX before i run EOF, because it's lagging a little when
it's on. If it is on my computer I will leave it as it is. If anything changes
I will let you know. Thank you for your help.

Is anybody still running into an occasional crash when switching between EOF
and another program? I have only ever been able to identify one cause for this
and fix it, and it was related to using the time stretched playback feature,
which didn't exist in EOF in RC7.

I'll go ahead and close this for now since it seems to be a rare occurrence
that is hard to reproduce.

Its almost like I have a bad AUDIO/VIDEO LAG, and I cannot get rid of it. I

Make sure you enable the waveform graph (F5) and rely on that more than the
audio/visual sync. The audio cues like the metronome (m) are another good tool
to use, since the way it is implemented, the cues cannot get out of sync with
the audio during playback even if the video gets out of sync due to lag issues.
