If it is a non-steam game, you will need to send invites using the RemotePlayWhatever app instead.
Thank you for having a look!
All games I tried are steam games. I used the Buttons in the RemotePlayWhatever app:
When I try to invite a friend, either directly or by clicking on "Create guest invite link", the following happens:
was meant as happening inside the RemotePlayWhatever window. I did try sending a friend invite through that as it worked before the update, but now no invites are sent. The steam overlay does weird stuff as described, tho.
My distro is Arch, with KDE (with Xorg), using the AppImage. The same is happening to me in older versions of the app. In newer versions, it just crashes with a gtk error gdk-pixbuf-error-quark 3 whenever I click in a button. And yeah, I tried updating the MIME base and querying the pixbuf loaders. Nothing changed (maybe a dependency issue?). Still, even if the crash stopped happening, I think that the app would continue to behave as the older versions of it to me: I click on a friend. A confirmation box appears, but after confirming it the "invite sent" box simply doesn't appear. After these events, now on steam, it shows like I'm in a remote playing session but I can't invite anyone, just as the author of this post mentioned. If I click in the button to share the link, nothing happens.
I'm running Steam version 1716584667, build date 2024-05-24 (from the stable channel) on a current debian 12 install. RemotePlayWhatever is freshly built from source.
When I try to invite a friend, either directly or by clicking on "Create guest invite link", the following happens: If the steam overlay is open in the game, the overlay often freezes and I can't get out of it, no window opens. If the steam overlay is not currently open no link is sent or generated, but when I then open the steam overlay, the "Remote Play" window is open and I can even click on "Invite Friend" there and select one, but still no invite is sent or generated. "Invite Guest" in that case has no effect at all, but after a time the overlay may freeze again.
I've tested this with multiple games I've bought on steam.
