Allows you to choose between answering Hard, Good and Easy on a card. And accordingly jMemorize makes diverse decisions about your next review date based on your answer.

As an example, Anki’s algorithm is based on SM2, but differs from it in some respects. They describe it here: http://ankisrs.net/docs/manual.html#what-algorithm
