Considering this is a highly optimized binary wouldn't it make sense it compile with something higher when march=x86_64 ? Sandybridge could be a nice middle ground and the binaries would work on any Intel CPU past 2011. I don't know how feasible it would be to build multiple binaries just asking. Anyone with an incompatible CPU could just use the official binaries.
