I have tested that the UI works; my emulator doesn't have space to test the install. A test case can be found at http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1028001-please-help-me-test-my-minecraft-pocket-edition-mod/page__st__2300#entry20245434

It would be nice if you could figure out a better and more secure way of doing this, though - currently, someone could just rename virus.apk to directpatch.zip, have the victim patch and get virus.apk installed as Minecraft.

Closing this as the original use case for this (patching MCPELauncher) has been superseded by pre patching in the Launcher.
