BOM Ideas #10

There is some confusion when it comes to the BOM, with the BOM on multiple pages it can lead to multiple orders from the same vendor. Also the BOM could use more clarity for what you need for each tool (For example how many dowels you need based on how many tools you want)

One suggestion is to set the BOM up so that the tools can be listed in with the main page with each vendor. image

This however is not a universal solution for all the different types of machines. A base BOM could be created that will provide links to specific BOMS, (Printer, Pens, Cameras ect)

@erikmcclain I do like the consolidation of the sheets this offers.

One other conundrum I'm having now is BOMs to manage upgrades if you plan to start with an upgrade. For folks who want to build a default Jubilee, the current BOM is good enough. They just order what they want from top to bottom. For folks who know they want the upgrade, it's not clear which parts they can cut out of the default BOM.

One idea is to have a BOM per upgrade in addition to the default BOM. From there, in the "upgrade BOM" we can list all the parts you can remove from the default BOM if you choose to use this upgrade in greyed-out fields.

Long term, I think the layout of the BOM could use some improvements to simplify the brain power needed to go from build specifications to ordering parts. Let's use this thread to keep BOM-related improvement ideas going.
