Update getting-started-platform.asciidoc #272

Kernels > 3.8 now use Uboot cape-universal. Configurations from 3.8 may use pins that require the /boot/uEnv.txt modifications to run.

Thanks for the the PR

Unfortunately the page you chose is the generic getting started main page and your information is BBB specific. It will cause complete confusion to newbies, as every kernel in use on other platforms is well after 3.8 Machinekit is nothing to do with the BBB per se.

I would suggest it goes here, with a caveat that it refers to the BBB specifically. http://www.machinekit.io/docs/getting-started/machinekit-images/

That makes sense but I think the note applies to all BBB install options (images, packages, dev) So it should be duplicated or linked.

On further reflection, the main problem looks to be that the Getting Started page just 'palms off' to the eelinux site without giving any useful info at all.

What you encountered would not be an issue for a beginer, if there was a link to an image which actually worked 'as is', like for instance the 3.8 kernelled Feb 2017 one.

Then we could worry about people wanted to use images that don't work 'as is'.

I'll close this for now, if you come up with a document that can be linked to or included, we would be grateful.

I'll try to replicate the mentioned steps and see if I get the same errors. If so, we need to fix the image

@JTrantow I have used your text here https://github.com/machinekit/machinekit-docs/pull/273 as part of a wider general clarification on which images to use.

If you produce a guide, I will happily link to it or include in the docs
