The drupal project page states that a reported security vulnerability in this module has not been fixed by the maintainer. https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_ingenico

Is this true for both the Drupal 7 version and the Drupal 8 version or only for one of them?

Is there anything I can do to help fix the issue?

I found a security issue in the D7 version that is not present in the D8 version.
