Is it possible to make bark/mel query?

Not at the moment. Is there a noticeable distortion of distances with this scales?

Didn't get, what do you mean by distortion, both scales make low frequencies more prominent and >10 kHz less prominent... But I thought it is easy to convert Hz to both scales.

It makes sense to do this only if nearest neighbours are different in different scales and this improves classification.
