It stopped working on the Ubuntu 18.04 machines now, too. But I got an English description out:

Following "Learn more":
Sign in with a supported browser
To help protect your account, Google doesn’t let you sign in from some browsers. Google might stop sign-ins from browsers that:
Don’t support JavaScript or have Javascript turned off.
Have unsecure or unsupported extensions added.
Use automation testing frameworks.

1. Use a supported browser
These and other browsers support JavaScript:
Chrome
Safari
Firefox
Opera
Internet Explorer
Edge
2. Turn on JavaScript in Chrome
If you’re using a supported browser and still can’t sign in, you might need to turn on JavaScript.
Computer AndroidiPhone & iPad
On your computer, open Chrome.
In the top right, click More More and then Settings.
At the bottom, click Advanced.
Under "Privacy and security," click Content settings and then Javascript.
Turn the setting on.
Note: You can turn off JavaScript after you sign in.
Turn on JavaScript in other browsers
If you use a supported browser other than Chrome, check its help center for instructions about turning on JavaScript. If you’re not sure whether your browser supports JavaScript, check its help center.
Any news would be greatly appreciated, also if they would say "No support anymore, please switch to another sync tool". (although that would be sad...)
Moved to sync-settings.
The package has worked like a charm on Ubuntu 18.04 across multiple machines for months.
Now, on a fresh install of Ubuntu 19.10, I cannot log in with my Google account (Atom 1.41.0 x64 installed via snap, same as on other machines). I type in username and password and then Google refuses to accept that because the browser is not supported and security cannot be guaranteed. Might have to do with Javascript being disabled (it is in German on that machine, so pasting the exact message probably does not help). I have no idea what atom/atom-package-sync does internally at that point, so it is difficult for me to pinpoint things any further. Happy to do so if you can point me to something. Thanks!
