Investigate parallel import of batches within a single source directory #141

Currently the tool single-threads batches within the same directory, but there 
are likely throughput advantages in parallelising such batches (despite the 
risk of increased contention on the parent node).

Note: this is probably related to issue #96.

This is indeed a duplicate of issue #96 - this aspect of batching is mentioned 
in the description.
