This should be possible to fix by changing the OpenType class of all the ascii marks to "Base Glyph".

The marks beginning at U+02C6 should also be set to "Base Glyphs".

Additionally, combining marks, which begin at U+0300, (currently empty in Mononoki) can be set to "Mark".

I am using FontForge terminology here, which is hopefully universal I am not a professional in the field of fonts, however, the results above were found by working on a fork/adaptation of the Mononoki font.

First thanks for the very good solution of the problem. I'm trying to persuade glyphs to do that, currently without success, but it should be doable. The next release will have this changes made

I've set grave to Base Glyph locally. These artifacts remain: image
