Xfce 4.16 follows freedesktop.org naming specification (rDNS names) #13

The new Xfce 4.16 release changed the icon name scheme. It now follows the freedesktop.org naming specification. Gnome did something similar.

For example, the name of the Thunar icon changed form "Thunar" to "org.xfce.thunar" . This is just an example, since (nearly?) all icon names changed. I did not find a list of all changed icon names.

If possible, please update the delft icon theme to match as many as possible.

I think there is some confusion in the announcement.

There are two conflicting freedesktop.org icon naming specifications:

  1. The old "Icon Naming Specification" https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html
  2. The new one (not only for icons), "Desktop Entry Specification" (rDNS naming convention) https://specifications.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/
