Now that (I think) I get what's going on behind the scenes, it's logical to code it up in Matlab.
This also resolves the issue of tracking the index of the component of the BMM from which the sample is being taken from, which I spent to rectify quite some time in C, but due to some runtime errors I am done for the day.
