Miscellaneous things that could be improved:

adaptive filter for z
better noise rejection / threshold bits
close diagonal pair sliding should not be glitchy
improve crowded touch rejection (maybe using curvature) and let lighter touches through
try snapping locations to or toward key centers for crowded touches
make a new calibration routine for y position, which varies between instruments. Maybe x as well.

many fixes were added. y position is fixed with new calibration. key center snap is a good idea to revisit.
