I just found your launcher and it looks really nice! of course im hesitant to try a random program from an anonymous person. Could you perhaps use MMOCentral Forums to make urself more reputable in the TTR community? Idk if u alrdy use the forums or not, but i asked if other ppl had tried ur launcher and i got 2 comments cautioning me not to use it. I just wanted to give you the chance to clear things up and promote ur work!

I have an MMOCF account but I have stopped using their website mainly because of disagreeing with some of their policies, aka a ban on linking to other forums even if completely on topic. I do use reddit semi-frequently and used to be fairly active on /r/toontown but mostly lurk now. My account is https://www.reddit.com/user/madsciencecoder.

As for concerns about using my software it is 100% open source meaning anyone, including yourself, can look through the code to see exactly what the program is doing and can change it to do whatever you want, unlike proprietary software where you have to trust the developers and are limited to what they want the program to do. Of course not everyone is skilled enough to be able to modify or understand what the source is doing so you'd have to either find someone you trust who can verify it or trust that I haven't done anything malicious that no one else has found and reported it.

I believe the launcher works perfectly on Windows 7 and Linux. I have not tested it on Windows 8 but on Windows 10 it does not work correctly unless it is run in administrator mode. I have not had a chance to figure out a work around to this yet. The reason it needs the administrator mode is because it downloads the game files to its folder but Windows 10 blocks access in the normal mode. I believe it will launch just fine without the administrator mode if you point it to the official TTR folder so it will use the game files from their launcher, it just won't be able to update them. You can change the folder in the settings tab assuming you are using version 1.1.2 or later.

I will try to take a look at fixing the permissions for Windows 10 this weekend and posting an updated Windows installer. I'm pretty busy during the week and especially on Fridays.

:D I have a ot of respect and interest in 3rd party programs made as tools for TTR, just like the invasion tracker, the multi-toon control program, and the fish guide, And i love the idea of temaking the boring ass launcher cuz i swear the launcher TTR has has been the same since launch. Everyone is just saying "i dont recommend to use" but i think that's just cuz they dont fully understand what you've made, I dont see the difference between what uve made, or lets say downloading a Content Pack zip. Both could have malicious code but for some reason downloading the content packs is apparently "safer"? I really wanna use ur launcher :D I do have windows 10 so its probably THAT reason that u said. I'll try.

EDIT: I got it to work the way u described :D

EDIT: Plus o-o how would u get this on mac? ik you've written that the audio crashes it, but my GF would still like to try it on her mac. We both don't know much XD

Mac support is mostly there, unless there is something that needs to be tweaked specifically for it. While it is made specifically with Linux in mind since that is the platform I use most of the code is very cross platform with only a few tweaks needed for it to work on Windows. And Mac is more similar to Linux than Windows is so I'd imagine it shouldn't need any tweaking.

The main problem with supporting Mac is I don't own one and I'm probably never going to. So unfortunately testing is impossible for me to do. Windows at least allows you to use it in virtual machines but Mac requires you to own their hardware to legally use it. Since it is open source anyone with a Mac and the knowledge can fairly easily port it over though and I'd gladly try to help anyone who tries to.

well like i said gf wants to try it on her mac XD but doesn't want a stranger poking in her laptop anddddd we both lack "the knowledge" as u say XD Im sorry for our ignorance, and idk if u culd help her without remote controlling her laptop.

PS: We made u a banner o-o http://image.prntscr.com/image/40c4aa14a4584c37889e76964a58850c.png

I do not know enough about Macs to be able to do it. Their packaging system is strange to me and would require me to familiarize with it, I'm not sure how it all works since I see lots of references to XCode which is a Mac specific language, plus any miscellaneous tweaks that may need to be added to the launcher itself.

Thanks for the banner, it looks really nice! Maybe someday I'll make a website and would go great with it.

One thing I would really like to do is improve the GUI. I'm not very artistic so the launcher is pretty plain and ugly. If you'd like to help design a better interface I'd love some help. I think it would be really cool to make it more "toony" like the official launcher.

My GF likes to play with photoshop, and is a lot better than i am XD i'll ask her if she wants to see what she can make, we'll be sure to show u anything we got when we do it. THANKS
