It seems like a dup of #1652. Does the solution described in this comment https://github.com/madskristensen/WebEssentials2013/issues/1652#issuecomment-68197028 work for you?
I confirm the crash on my machine, either ( Win 7 + VS2013, Update 4). And yes: it's related to #1652.
In ,my case, I had to set up Visual Studio anew (not because of WebEssentials), and when I did, I did not delete all the nifty registry keys and other ghosts.. some scaffold files were ill-referenced. After having installed the NUGet Package Manager (plus a maybe optional TypeScript 1.4 upgrade) that Problem went away, and I could activate WebEssentials again without crashing.
So that problem was caused by one of the many dependencies on VS internals and other extensions that are deeply linked into VS 2013.
Hello am11, NO - I installed Win7 + VS2013 (Update 4) as Administrator and I have tried about 6 or 7 times it Install and Uninstall Web Essentials as Normal and as Administrator. Whenever I select Tools > Options > Web Essentials as soon as the bottom Row indicates Web Essential Global settings Applied IT CRASHES. If I Remove Web Essential it works fine on Visual Micro ( which is the other app I want to use )

Hi Hans,
I left a response on GitHub. Re #1652 - NO
I have Installed and Uninstalled about 10 times now as Normal and as Administrator without success.
With it Uninstalled I can use the Tool Add in Visual Micro for Arduino Microprocessor devel using C++ I can Open Solution No Problems but if I Install Web Essentials to do Web Apps it Crashes. I cant even go to Tools > Options > Web Essentials as soon as the Bottom Row of IDE indicates Web Essentials Global Settings Applied IT CRASHES?
Cheers William

Hello All,
I have still not been able to get Web Essentials to Work.
I have tried several Re Installs/Repair and every thing works until I Install Web Essentials!
I have got most of the Add-ons you have listed.
I originally started out by Installing "Visual Micro IDE" for ARDUINO Add-on - Everything worked OK then I decided to add all the Python Add-ons and ASP.NET Add-ons but once I Installed Web Essentials nothing Worked. I have Uninstalled ALL Add-ons and Re Installed them Over and Over again and Confirm that Web Essentials is the Cause of the Problem.
I have Confirmed that when I UNINSTALL ALL ADDONS/INS and simply install Web Essentials _do a Restart of Visual Studio Community 2013 then simply go to Tools >> Options_ >> then select Web Essentials *it will CRASH as soon as the Bottom Row Indicates *GLOBAL SETTINGS APPLIED >>> CRASH.
My primary Interest is in 1) C++ Editor for "Visual Micro IDE" for ARDUINO Controller Development 2) C# for ASP.NET WEB DEVELOPMENT Tools 3) Python IDE Tools
Cheers William

This error is caused because Web Essentials installs itself to the following restricted directory: "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VWDExpress\12.0\Extensions". On my system, .exe and .dll files can not execute there.
Hello All,
Thank you very much for the information. I look forward to the Updated Package.
Kind Regards, William
