Could you please describe in more detail what this is? I took a look at https://tea.xyz/what-is-this-file, but I'm still unsure the benefit would be to this project?

Tea claims to want to support open source projects using crypto, somehow? This is making random people open PRs to projects with tea.yaml files that contain their wallet addresses to get the rewards that will eventually be distributed, as they'd be considered the owner of the project by Tea.
