What steps will reproduce the problem?
none, this is just a contribution,

        $("#counter").countdown( {
            image : 'images/digits.png' ,
            format : "hh:mm:ss" ,
            digitWidth: 27,
            digitHeight: 39,
            startTime : date2go 
        });
