@sckott I've added a Rmd file in vignettes/ which uses either monkeylearn + opencage or geoparser, with abstracts of articles queried via fulltext and PLOS only.
A first example that could build upon your rgbif & literature access expertise would be:
choosing a bunch of scientific names of species.
finding abstracts and titles of articles with those scientific names as keywords, in databases chosen smartly (not what I did with my example, I chose PLOS because that was fulltext only).
geolocating the articles with one of the workflows or both of them or a better version of any of them.
