Thank you for your inputs! After carefully considering your suggestion, the team would like to politely reject it due to the following reasons:
p
could mean several things in Prudy (i.e. Phone number, preferences, policies), which may cause confusion.edit-policy
), making it easier to remember these commands, compared to consistently associating "editing policies" with "editp".Furthermore, the team would like to highlight that the bug reported could be classified as a suggestion.
Regardless, we really appreciate the thoroughness of the bug report.

Reason for disagreement: Thank you for your detailed response!
As stated in the bug triaging guidelines, "Unnecessarily complicated (or hard-to-type) command formats can be considered a type.FeatureFlaw as it is expected that the input formats will be optimized to get things done fast."
From the initial bug report, "Commands like edit-policy and delete-policy could be shortened to editp and deletep instead, while still easy to remember" is not a suggestion, but rather an example of how current keywords could be shortened. Other keywords could also be shorted in a similar fashion.
To address the points you raised,
edit-policy
compared to editp
, especially since user has to move their fingers more to type -
compared to simply just letters. Typing long commands quickly becomes tedious for the users who have to input a lot of information.2, 3, 4. I believe users would be able to quickly learn that p stands for policy, because there is no other command for editing phone numbers/preferences.
While I understand where the team is coming from, I feel that overall, the benefit of having an easier-to-type command word outweighs the slight learning curve the user might have to overcome to remember that p stands for policy.
All command words are rather long and include dashes, which makes it time-consuming for the user to type, given that user will be typing these command words repeatedly and for every single time they use the command.
Commands like
edit-policy
anddelete-policy
could be shortened toeditp
anddeletep
instead, while still easy to remember.
