At the moment, the TRACKNUMBER tag is used only by the album guesser and the CD ripping plugin. There is no way to correct wrong tracknumbers in files, or to check that they're consistent with Maestro's container structure.
While per-file tracknumbers somehow conflict wtih the concept of Maestro's containers, in 99% of the cases there is a one-to-one correspondence.
I see two options:
Don't mark the tracknumber as special tag. That means it would appear in the database and tageditors. Since it would not be included in the delegates, the user would not really notice. As a weaker option, we could make the list of special tags user-configurable (that should be done anyway).
(possible in addition to option 1) Implement a dialog that, for each file, checks if its tracknumber matches the position in at least one container, and otherwise correct it (or ask the user).
