The observatory is still preparing for its PDR so many interfaces are not well defined yet. Other instruments and their needs are not well known. Environmental factors are not well understood. The observatory is much larger and more massive than any existing observatory so some of the challenges are new. Technology continues to evolve so the best solution today might not be the best solution at instrument delivery. All these factors make it likely that requirement or interface changes will occur.
We meet regularly with the observatory and with the other instrument teams to work through requirements and interfaces. We are early enough in our design phase that the consequence of responding to such changes is currently small. We expect the likelihood to decrease and the consequence to increase over time, and then for the consequence to decrease as only small changes are considered.
