New videos in 2020 #183

HOW OFTEN IS NEW CONTENT ADDED? We will try to add new content every second week, or at least once a month.

You haven't published anything for almost 3 months. Do your promises mean something?

Hi @gander, Thanks for the issue! Sadly I’ve lost most of my training business when the pandemic started, and I had to take on more development work to keep my family fed. It would be great if Mage2 TV would cover for us, but unfortunately it’s not close to that. Once things get back to normal I will be able to publish new content again frequently.

In the meantime I’ll update the FAQ entry accordingly. Sorry for letting you down, Vinai

@Vinai I apologize for my harsh words. I admit that I was in a bad mood and unprofessionally poured it on you.

I keep my fingers crossed that you can calmly provide support for your family and come back to the videos when you can.

Wait a minute. A year ago, you wrote that you have a hard time, and you hold off publishing until it gets better. If you've got the money to donate to Derick Rethans for the past three months, I guess now it's better. He's got 148 other donors, he'll be fine. And you have paid subscribers and a declaration of at least one publication a month. It's time to keep your promises.

I canceled my subscription, but the bank tried to charge my credit card for the next few days. This is very suspicious behavior.

Update: In September, Vinai Kopp was at an event in my country and he looked good. He was also talking about a project he is participating in, so I think his living conditions have improved. Hey everyone, sorry for not responding earlier. In a nutshell, my training business which was providing the livelihood for me and my family for the last 5 years got shut down by covid. I also was sick for a few months (not covid thankfully) but have recovered by now.

Regarding work I've pivoted to doing contract development work, and now have joined Hyvä, since it really revitalized my love for Magento development. My income is still no where near where it used to be, so I continue to focus on work until that is where I want it to be. Mage2 TV helps, but it isn't close to providing what we need.

One of the first things I want to do when I can is move Mage2 TV content to a hosted platform, probably https://www.podia.com/ Then I can build new content without being distracted by admin work.

So - that's a status update. It probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but that's how things are.

This is what I wanted to hear. Update. "Hi, I'm still here, I'm trying, I haven't abandoned you, I'm working to get things back to normal." I understand that it is not easy when you lost your source of income, but when you sell services, you also have to do the minimum, which is to stay in touch with your clients. Don't be so silent any more.

Hi Vinai, Thanks for the update! Can you please share some other good (easy to understand) resources from where we can learn the remaining (that are pending on Mage2TV) concepts of Magento 2? Also please let us know what do you refer apart from the official documentation.

Even though I really dislike the way many people write here, the concern is still valid and I have the same to be honest. I totally understand that we all need to earn money and survive, no questions asked! However, when having a subscription and therefore paying monthly / yearly fees, I do expect some new videos from time to time - especially since this has been promised. I think in the beginning, videos have been published very often and timely, I do not expect this on an ongoing basis. However, I really think it is understandable that people get disappointed if no new content is uploaded for months / over a year.

Please add more videos (Mage2tv, Podia, pigeons with USB drives - doesn't matter). The content is absolute gold! I would be happy to pay thrice as much for this.

Hey everybody, sorry for not living up to your (and my standards). I've decided to wrap up Mage2TV. There are many other great suppliers of educational developer content for Magento nowadays, and I feel I can make a bigger impact on the Magento ecosystem with working on Hyvä and Mage-OS.

It would be nice to keep the videos that exist online somewhere, I haven't decided yet how exactly to do that.

At least provide us with the link to the whole set of videos (that are on Mage2tv now) please if you are planning to shut the portal down. Now I feel bad for leaving my previous comment.

Its sad that no new videos is coming out. Although I understand that life exists and you have to work with things that make money.

I have looked through internet and not found anything near the depth explanations that Vinai gives. Yes there are educational sources, but the ones I found is more of a how to do easy stuffs that is pretty self explained.

But there is a saying in Sweden: that if you need something, you have to do it yourself. No one will do it for you.

Hope all is Well with you and your family and thanks for all in depth knowledge. Also has the old book Grokking Magento which helped me a lot back in the days.
