ive tried installing the launcher but it says it can't find xmage so it doesn't update or check versions

Please post the related error log from ../mage-client/mageclient.log file. The log you posted is a game log and not the java error log, that shows in which part of the code the problem is located.

Probaly the server was in buggy state. So I close those issue, because it's not related to the cause of the problem.
