Pugin in works in Ableton Live 10.1.7 then stops #42

I've tried using this plugin several times in Ableton Live. It will work for a little while, meaning I can use it maybe 3 or 4 times then it just stops. I will bring the plugin onto a midi track and the logo is greyed out and I click buttons but nothing happens. The button text will change to white and stay that way. (images attached

I have downloaded and installed the plugin again. I have deleted the plugin and added it again. I have rebooted Ableton. None of this seems to make a difference.

Any suggestions?

adarob commented 4 years ago

Did it work for you in a previous version of Live?

megfohl commented 4 years ago

It worked the same as I described in Ableton 9. So it's never fully worked consistently.

adarob commented 4 years ago

Can you choose the debug option from the menu and provide any output?

megfohl commented 4 years ago

Oddly, when I click on Drumify for example, nothing happens, I then open Max and select Enable debugging, then click on Drumify, it works! UNTIL I set the temperature to 1.5, then it crashed Ableton. I opened Ableton up again and tried again with the Generate option and that worked as well. I will test out the temperature setting again to see if I can get anymore info on the crashing..

Same issue, looks like no update still on other tickets.

adarob commented 4 years ago

Is this on Windows?

danielmurray commented 4 years ago

I would like to confirm I am also seeing this issue, on my Mac, Ableton@10.1.15 Is there anyway I can take a look at errors myself? I have Ableton live suite.

danielmurray commented 4 years ago

Ok, I've clicked on the button that opened up Max, I'm back in business.... for now.

adarob commented 4 years ago

There should be an option in the dropdown menu called Debug that will let you see console logs and hopefully help resolve the issue.

danielmurray commented 4 years ago

Thanks @adarob, if I run into an issue with Max open I'll try looking for that button.

jgthms commented 4 years ago

Just wanted to say I have the same issue. The plugin works the first time, then stops if I try to come back to it: image

Running Ableton Live 10.1.18 on Mac OS 10.14.6

danielmurray commented 4 years ago

@jgthms, so if you click this button, it puts it into a magic "debug" mode and it works again. @adarob to confirm.

I forgot to mention I tried that. It did launch Max For Live but it did not unfreeze the plugin for me. I’ve been using the standalone apps since.

adarob commented 4 years ago

To clarify, I don't think it will fix the issue but will hopefully provide some logs that can help us debug it. Please share any error messages you see.

adarob commented 4 years ago

Also, apologies for not being more proactive about debugging this. We are a very small research team and don't have the people-power to maintain all of our projects in perpetuity. This is part of the reason we open source our code, so that we can get community support as well. However, if I'm able to see the logs, I can hopefully get to the bottom of it.

jgthms commented 4 years ago

No worries @adarob. Thanks for your concerns.

I think what the team has built is amazing. I also love the straightforward documentation. The standalone apps work great.

I will try to share some logs next time.

Same happened to me. Was able to start it in Live 11 again after deleting the magenta folder in /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application\ Support/Cycling\ \'74/Max\ 8/Settings/temp64-live/mxt/
