[Issue] Enabling Individual Editing of Shipping and Billing Addresses from the Customer Dashboard #38678

Open m2-assistant[bot] opened 2 weeks ago

This issue is automatically created based on existing pull request: magento/magento2#38677: Enabling Individual Editing of Shipping and Billing Addresses from the Customer Dashboard

Description (*)

We propose an enhancement to the Magento customer dashboard's address management functionality. Currently, when adding an address, it defaults to both billing and shipping. However, distinguishing between them becomes confusing for clients, as editing one address impacts both. This native workflow requires generating a new address to differentiate between default shipping or billing. Our enhancement streamlines this process by allowing direct individual editing of billing and shipping addresses, thereby simplifying the user experience for logged-in clients.

Video 2: "Improvement Proposal: Individual Editing of Billing and Shipping Addresses" addressImprovement.webm

Manual testing scenarios (*)

  1. Navigate to the customer dashboard.
  2. Add a new address and verify that it defaults to both billing and shipping.
  3. Edit the address and observe that both billing and shipping are affected.
  4. Apply this pull request's changes and verify that individual editing of billing and shipping addresses is possible without affecting the other.

Hi @Franciscof-Serfe ,

Verified the issue on 2.4-develop and it is not reproducible.

Steps to reproduce:-

1.Navigate to the customer dashboard. 2.Add a new address and verify that it defaults to both billing and shipping. 3.Edit the address and observe that both billing and shipping are affected. 4.Verify that individual editing of billing and shipping addresses is possible without affecting the other.

Please refer the attached screenshot and let us know if we add new address to a customer and then we edit the address what changes can be applied

Hi @engcom-Delta We are not understanding each other. Could you see the videos I attached?

You are doing it as native Magento requires and I pointed out that it could be confusing for the client.

After adding the first address, it is added to both billing & shipping. Step 2 of your description.

If you read under each one it says "edit billing address" & "edit shipping address" (first image of your answer).

If you, as a user who does not know Magento, click on edit billing address (without adding any new address), this change is reflected in both directions. So there is the issue I am reporting.

Let me know if you need more details or images that reflect it.

The goal is that the client does not get overwhelmed or feel lost when the changes are not reflected as they would like and they need to add an address to make the editing links work correctly. (By the way, this is not clarified anywhere)

I await your comments. Regards, Francisco

Hi @Franciscof-Serfe ,

Thanks for your reporting and collaboration.

We agree with your point, If a user who does not know Magento, click on edit billing address (without adding any new address), this change is reflected in both directions and client does get overwhelmed or feel lost when the changes are not reflected as they would like and they need to add an address to make the editing links work correctly.

We are Considering this as a feature request as an improvement to proceed further.

Thanks,
