Style enhancements #154

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

I'd like to request several style enhancements (having experienced the benefits
of a Greasemonkey script on gc.com).

This issue is more a discussion opening, for all site operators to voice their
views on the suggested enhancements before implementation.
I'll try to implement the changes myself this fall.

This is also an open discussion for several other style enhancements that
people may come up with.

- cache title for disabled caches should be black, strikeout.
- cache title for archived caches should be red, strikeout.

This be done in cache pages, cache lists, search results, maps, popups,
everywhere.

I think copying styles from geocaching.com is not welcome. Users do not
complain current cache pages layout.

Not to be misunderstood.
The inspiration was GC_little_helper, a Greasemonkey script which adds many
enhancements, both visual and functional.

There is very little visual differentiation (if any) between ACTIVE / DISABLED
/ ARCHIVED caches both in list pages and cache page.

In cache list pages I see no visual cue.
In cache page there is a a status indicator, but burried among many other
indicators.
The text is green for active, red for other states, yet the visual cue is very
small.

Perhaps an increase in the visibility of the cache status is a good thing.

Please note that OCDE also provide visual cues as to the cache status:

In cache lists:
- black strikethrough = disabled
- red strikethrough = archived
- cache icons are dimmed.

In cache page:
- aside from the status indicator, a large warning rectangle tells about the
non-active status. Can't miss it.

In map baloon popup : non-active status is clearly shown above the cache name.
