Analysis of logs provided by Puffymuffins and Towneh [1] [2] gives us the following Bloodthirst hit table:

Target at +3 levels, +5 weapon skill (13.86% crit chance, n=1677)

• Hit: 61.78% ±2.37% (1036)
• Crit (Overall): 7.33% ±1.27% (123)
• Crit (Two-roll): 10.12% ±1.73% (123)
• Miss: 6.50% ±1.20% (109)
• Parry: 14.91% ±1.74% (250)
• Dodge: 6.08% ±1.17% (102)
• Block: 4.29% ±0.99% (72)

While the sample count is low, looking at the chance to miss shows us that Bloodthirst is most likely affected by weapon skill since we expect to see 6% chance to miss here.

An opposite side test for weapon skill usage of BT would be to take one weapon skill you're low with, lets say daggers, and unarmed similarly low. Take a mob, and an enemy player with Disarm skill.

1. Attack the mob with a dagger using BT. Verify that you gain Dagger skill.
2. Allow the enemy player to disarm you, then use BT on the mob. Verify that you gain Unarmed skill.

If you're gaining the skills, there can be a reasonable expectation that you're using the skill for the attack.
