Hi all. I have discovered this repo. This is really great. I would be highly interessted in participating in this.

I am the author of:

• neo an interface to many data format for ephy with raw trace, spike timestamps, spike wavefrom and event
• tridesclous : the best spike sorting sofwatre of course :)

I don't know how much you have spread the work. I could help on:

• data format via neo
• metrics of sorting quality
• unify more the "geometry" for a given probe. tridesclous, klusta, spyking-circus use the PRB file. But this could be enhenced.

We have now 3 repos under development:

• Spikeinterface (https://github.com/colehurwitz31/spikeinterface): this repo is to interface with different recording and sorting outputs. I think neo could help interfacing wiht more systems here! We are not using neo because we decided to keep it as simple as possible (basically just extracting raw traces and sampling frequency for recordings and spike times and unit ids for sorting outputs), but we oculd use it internally to fetch data from various systems.
• Spiketoolkit (https://github.com/alejoe91/spiketoolkit): this uses spikeinterface objects and wraps several spike sorters (so far it's klusta, spyking circus, kilosort, mountainsort, ironclust). Moreover it has comparison classes between 2 or multibple sorting outputs. Ideally we would like to integrate unsupervised validation metrics
• Spikewidgets (https://github.com/magland/spikewidgets): visualization tools and widgets for recordings, sorting, comparison, etc.

I have the big picture now. I will have a look at each and make some feedback and PR if necessary.

Note that neo have now a rawio interface and it is very simple (and efficient). neo.rawio can export rawtrace in int16 format or rescaled format and timestamp super easly for many format. I can clearly help here.

My first impression is taht you should create a github organization (for instance spike-sorting-contest or spike-sorting-comparaison or spike-sorting-colab) with a team. That would be official place for all this 3 projects and move ownership to this organisation. So each one could fork each project and send PR to a central place maintain by a team.

tridesclous have many code for reporting spike sorting quality by generating figures. I think I could also participate to Spikewidgets.
