Hi, I was getting this error for a few hours. I had 4-5 copies of putty laying
around and 2 of them inside of a GNS3 directory. I exported my registry keys
for putty to a file for safekeeping. I then went, except for the putty and
superputty files in the GNS3 directory, i uninstalled putty in the non-GNS3
directories and deleted superputty in the non-GNS3 directories and then
downloaded superputty and unzipped it to a non-admin directory and then
downloaded the installer for putty and then installed putty in that same
non-admin directory and the problem went away.

The GNS3 developers must have idiot proofed their versions of putty and
superputty because, enough said. HTH
