I just started using the ways to upgrade and change gear and came to the conclusion that it is pretty frustrating as it is right now. Having an item with nice effects which is under your level can be upgraded which is quiet expensive. Thats okay the way it is but I think its dumb that you lose items so easly cuz of the break chance. Alos adding modifires and so on is super risky because of this.

I think there should be no or a lower break chance when leveling and tiering up items because you have to spend the resources (which is alot) anyways.

If that does not sound balanced there could be added a item which resets or lowers the breakchance could be expensive to but would be nice if you jsut wanna creat your endgame gear or a nice gear what so ever.

Last Idea would be to add the possibility to save the item if broken with like legy ore or ore on the level the item is.

I think option 1 or 2 would be the best and option 2 would be the best fitting on gameplay site.

Mahj can change this for modpacks but my reasoning for limited modifications is to encourage getting new loot, because each piece of loot has a limited amount of chances to be modified.

Now the amount of times it can be modified and the material costs can be debated. But not the core idea of encouraging finding of new loot.

It's fair, i can see why you'd think that but I already reduced the chance of breaking massively and i don't really plan on lowering it further. If you're on SP y8ou can disable it pretty easily by going into world save/server configs/mine-and-slash-server.toml
