Notification Center support #142

Open brandondrew opened 9 years ago

brandondrew commented 9 years ago

Especially when running maid as a daemon (or "service", as suggested in #141), it would be nice to know when maid makes some change to the files on your drive. The most convenient way to receive these notices on OS X would be in the Notification Center.

(On Linux or other Unixes you could send them through the wall or write command as a way to broadcast to the console. And there's probably—almost certainly—some Growl clone for Linux window managers for those running desktop Linux.)

I'd be for this (pull requests welcome). Some people have suggested a menu bar icon as well.

On Ubuntu, this would probably use libnotify. More info: https://github.com/guard/guard/wiki/System-notifications

Going through old issues and triaging.

Is there still interest for this? Popularity will affect prioritization for implementation in a future release.

brandondrew commented 1 year ago

For me it's pretty high priority. Maid looks pretty cool but without feedback when something happens, I'm reluctant to adopt it.

Anyone get Notification Center to work when an action occurs?
