standard format for importing multiple activity sources #183

A number of of us are looking for a way to automate the updating of continuous data (blog posts etc), and I know it's something that has been talked about - whether to put the data in spreadsheet that gets picked up, or a direct API.

In any case Linda and I are ready to do something for Google Sites and Blogger and maybe some others that can pick up +1's and page views once we have a collection methodology and normalized data structure figured out. We'll also need to figure out how to deal with incremental views & +1's etc.. (last month it was x, now it's x+y, but it's still the same activity -right now I just manually update the original entry to the new numbers), and whether by topic (which is how I count them now .. too many individual pages to maintain) or by individual post is the right way to do it.

So if we can get some consistency and standard format agreed we can probably get this done pretty quickly.

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately my current projects for this are standalone and would not integrate well into the Current GDE tracking app. I intended them for use when re-uping for GDE, as the Tracking app only records G+ data I needed a way to gather the data that is relevant to my activity as a GDE which isn't G+. Like you I have to much activity and not enough time to enter it all in manually.

I contacted you in Hangouts because I thought you might like to consult a bit on my plans with regard to Google Analytics. I have had others input on my StackOverFlow export.

Personally I think we should leave the Current tracking app as is and not try and add this to it. So I don't really think this post belongs here you are welcome to contact me via email or on Hangouts if you want to chat about it.
