Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Mailchains needs to look up messages by address to support substrate. LINK

Describe the solution you'd like Create a polkascan package in clients that initially finds a transactionsByAddress, it should read all data for each transaction/extrinsic including the data field.

Describe alternatives you've considered N/A

Additional context see getTransactionsByAddress(network string, address []byte) (*txList, error) in internal/clients/etherscan for an example

@robdefeo polka scan doesn't support any current supported network, I've currently added them in github.com/mailchain/mailchain/internal/protocols/ethereum :

Kusama CC2
Kulupu
Alexander (testnet)
Darwina Crayfish (testnet)
Edgewere v0.9 (testnet)
Joystream (testnet)
Miniplasm (testnet)
Robonomics (testnet)

Would you all of them ? Just a small part ?

The following testnets support the contracts substrate runtime, so would (pending testing) should be supported:

Darwina Crayfish (testnet) (modules)
Edgeware v0.9 (testnet) (modules)
Miniplasm (testnet) (modules)

I plan to test on Edgeware because it has a working faucet (dev details).

Ideally these would sit under in a substrate folder (@robdefeo any thoughts?) e.g. github.com/mailchain/mailchain/internal/protocols/substrate

Polkascan is for supporting substrate rather than ethereum networks. Substrate will add networks that support contracts so the networks that are supported should be configurable.

I'm having trouble getting the data part, I just can't find it in the API. I would know if there is a doc about the polkascan API, I can't find some (I only find the raw python code) ? I'm currently looking browser request but that not handy.

Hi @jorropo there does not appear to be good documentation around it, we will contact polkascan to see if they can provide documenation.
I looked at this page, https://polkascan.io/pre/edgeware-testnet/account/5EU2BwdEH8rojoKuJ16p3t1Gs8uUUp6SoaomKud2FmXBvdbp it refers to block 77326 where some data exists. This can be a good test case. Through chrome tools, i can see that it calls a few API's, https://polkascan.io/edgeware-testnet/api/v1/extrinsic?&filter[address]=5EU2BwdEH8rojoKuJ16p3t1Gs8uUUp6SoaomKud2FmXBvdbp&page[size]=25 looked the most relevant but I would encourage you to look at other calls too in case something is missing.

@robdefeo I'm having trouble decoding the raw data, I'm not used to mailchain and ethereum enough to find what work, maybe try with some else sorry.

Hi @Web3Foundation yes this is still blocked due to that issue, we are working on building a light indexer that will mean that this can be continued.

The work is being tracked in https://github.com/orgs/mailchain/projects/7 the limitation of polkascan has added significant amount of work for us. We are working through it. Hope to be able to resume this soon.
