Ditto here. In the absence of a permanent fix, we at least need the ability to edit the subscribers who are marked "This person is only eligible for transactional emails" and change them to regular subscribers. Right now we can't send our newsletter to the people who most recently purchased from us and are most likely to want to receive it!
@ryanhungate @stephenmartin @khungate and other devs: The fact that this is still happening at least 9 months after it being reported is completely indefensible.
Please retract this plugin right away and ensure that all subscribers removed by this bug are re-added.
Your complete lack of regard for your customer’s valuable data is frankly shocking, and you’re doing real damage to the business of potentially 30.000+ users of this plugin and their mailing lists. Please stop now - and fix the damage you've done.
I know the holidays can really mess with people's schedules, but I was hoping there might be an update by now. Any chance someone has looked into this? Manually checking users after a purchase is getting really old at this point. Kinda takes the automation out of "automation".
Hi @sandeld, thank you for reaching out. We are investigating further. In our testing environment, all looks to be working as expected, but we'll take a closer look and report back anything that could be causing the issue.
So let's say that's true. Here's the next issue: how to fix the people who were marked "This person is only eligible for transactional emails." As far as I can tell, they can't be edited, can't be deleted, and if the person tries to resubscribe, they get the message that they already are. If they can't resubscribe and I can't resubscribe them, what can I do to get them back on the subscribed list, after this plugin bumped them off?
Here's a screenshot of my customers over this weekend, all of which have spent more than $0, and now they are lost forever short of invasively emailing them personally and asking them to sign-up again.
@sandeld we have replicated the issue and there is a patch for this due up in our next release. Thank you for your patience and providing all the information.
@khungate That's great news. Please post when it's ready.
Now, how do we fix those who were marked 'transactional email only', without having to export and reimport everyone? Why don't we have editing rights to those subscribers?
@paulreali Regarding your question about transactional emails, I wouldn't be the best resource to explain how those work within MailChimp and how to go about editing them. This article from MailChimp's Knowledge Base explains more about the different kinds of contacts in their system and how they can be used: About Your Contacts: http://eepurl.com/c5MOZP.
You can reach out to their excellent support team at https://mailchimp.com/contact/ and they can help get you on the right track.
@khungate What are you going to do about those 30.000+ users who have been affected by this, and who have lost some of their best subscribers while you've continued offering this critically-flawed plugin? You don't get to just waltz away from this: You really need to take responsibility for the damage caused and start fixing what you've broken.
Hi @aand01 - Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As you know we take all feedback seriously and appreciate the members who voice them. To ensure we understand your issue clearly can you email us so we can route this issue to the right people for investigation.
@khungate I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the unintentional unsubscribes have been happening since the very first version of this plugin. What is your (as in you, the developer)'s plan of action regarding this? You've got 1st hand knowledge of the issue, the scope of the issue, how it's affecting users and what these subscribes look like - you really, really need to be fixing it rather than relaying me to a generic support email address. Thanks for the email address, but support is fully aware of this issue already.
There have been 3 threads about this issue in the past:
All of which say the problem has been resolved. But I am still experiencing it.
I opened a thread in the WordPress Plugin Support forum, but it sounded like posts in here were given higher priority. So, I'm doubling down on locations in hopes it gets fixed quickly.
