Decide on a community conversation forum #22

Sync? Async? Chat? Forums? Discord? Discourse?

Let's decide, and move forward.

Personally, I think https://github.com/maintainers is enough for sync communication, and having another forum would likely split the community more than uniting it. My vote is with either discord, slack, or gitter.

Is everybody a member of the NDA group? There aren't any public discussion areas under https://github.com/maintainers

That's a closed list for GItHub's own internal purposes, and I was dis-invited for what I hope are obvious reasons. I strongly oppose the idea of using that repo as the de facto place for open source maintainers to hang out, even if I still had access.

I totally get that. let's keep on brainstorming then :)

I'm using Twist with one of my clients, and it has a nice combination of both sync chat and async threaded forums. They have a free plan for communities as well. I'm going to set up a new team there, and we can try it out and see if it suits.
