Hi, I am a maintainer of SciPy. One of our repositories https://github.com/scipy/scipy.

I am interested in joining this group as I am interesting in exchanging ideas around maintaining a large open source project. I am part of the Scientific Python ecosystem group (https://scientific-python.org) and do a lot of outreach activities to try understand our communities and look into solutions to support everyone.

Hi @tupui Can u guide me how can i start open source in python (for Beginner)

@PARKER-X

A few pointers:

  1. Read the contributing doc of projects of interest-multiple times
  2. Skip GSoC (prefer a real internship or real junior dev position)
  3. Join community, and newcomers, calls
  4. Read the mailing lists, some issues and PR to see how the community interacts

If you like all of the above for a project, great then next step is to find something to do. Here it depends on the project. Some are organised, some aren't and you need to do more homework. Usually documentation is a good start. Also don't forget that contributing does not limit to code. e.g. most projects actually lack reviewers.
