Hello there!
I started my marketplace (The Good Warehouse from The Ethical Fashion Agency) because I am passionate about sustainability and connecting people. I wanted to make a difference in that industry through an innovative and modern approach.
I'm sure you have a strong reason for starting your online store or marketplace as well.
If you are like me, you got super excited with your business idea! Helping connect people and products in your community or around the world is your passion, and you can't wait to put your full vision into reality.
However, when it comes to shipping, WCMp does not provide any simple solutions. Even for regular WooCommerce stores, you don't really have a comprehensive shipping plugin that you can use for free.
- Your current choices are:
- Use one of the default WooCommerce shipping options (Free, Flat Rate or Local Pickup). - Now you or your Vendors have to do some complex math (to add a markup to your products or the plugin calculation box), to make sure you don't lose money on shipping.
- Pay for the Rate Table plugin and spend hours entering the dimensions, weights and prices of your shipping carrier(s). Update the table every time your carrier(s) update the pricing or shipment policy. Why pay to do more work?!
- For regular WooCommerce stores, use separate plugins for each carrier that you want to use. - More plugins means more time spent updating, managing and debugging them, instead of focusing on what really matters: growing your e-commerce sales.
- For WCMp, the picture is even bleaker. Your alternatives are:
- Pay for the Rate Table plugin and have you or your Vendors go through all the hassles of devising complex calculations as mentioned before.
- Pay for someone to develop a shipping solution that uses other carriers, since none of the regular carrier plugins work with WCMp.
- Use one of the default WooCommerce shipping options (Free, Flat Rate or Local Pickup). - Now you or your Vendors have to do some complex math (to add a markup to your products or the plugin calculation box), to make sure you don't lose money on shipping.
Wouldn't it be great if you could just install a plugin and have it calculate everything for you? And give the buyer different options for shipping prices and speeds?
I felt the same way! Frustrated with the lack of solutions for WCMp, I concluded that I had no choice but to build my own plugin. Thanks to my 20 years of experience developing and testing software (including for big multinationals like IBM and HP), that was fairly easy for me to do.
Once I had my plugin ready, I thought it would be a great idea to share it with other entrepreneurs, and help them bootstrap their e-commerce business as well. I hope you enjoy it. I'm super excited about the Beta-Test and can't wait to get it started!
