The $ prompt (or # for root user) is required in the Red Hat Style Guide when Documenting Command Syntax.
If there is some sort of automatic copy function that is grabbing the prompt characters, my suggestion is to turn that off. But if you're copying and pasting manually, avoiding the prompt should not be a problem.
I'd prefer to keep the $/# and update the clipboard functionality to trim those out. I've opened MAISTRA-722 to track the clipboard changes
A fix for this leaving $ and # is in #84
The $ signs are copied when c&p on the web site. The change is consistent with the getting started guide.
