Lack of basic Info #43

For a good use of the MKS Robin, you gonna need to give some basic info: -G-code Flavor -usable pinout (I do understand that you can't give all the pinout since you made it clear that it is a close firmware but it would be more then useful to have at least Servos/moffset pin out) -Confirmation that thermal runaway is activate

I have 2 other printer and all of them run on MKS tech 😄 I truly like you guys!

I agree. It is absolutely foolish of them not to release enough info on these things for the open source community to be able to use it. Not saying they need to go full RepRap, but doing it the way they are is shooting themselves in the foot.

I know but Chinese close border render them blind to the open source communauty. I don't blame them but they surely loose money because of it.

They dont have to go full open source and get the sticker, just put out enough info so people can work with it. Id say presently that the only people buying these are wowed by the pictures, but dont really know what they are doing. I cant imagine what kind of sales increases they would see if they could make this an item that people who knew what they were doing would buy. I would guess it would be in the hundreds of % increase in sales.

No business are doing business to loose money. I think they are targeting to in Land market more than over seas.

For those who uses this board and has a lot of complains , it might be that their expectations were set too high.

I’m running the first version of the board ( even though the company sent me a second one for free due to version upgrades they went through) without issues.

I do my bed labeling manually and once is done , unless I’m doing swaps or upgrades, I don’t need to do the leveling. Btouchbir or not , captive sensing or not, it is faster for me to do manual things. (!yes I did the electronic sensing as well)

This board was closed source. If they wanted one day to open up their codes, then yes, more people will buy in. Nevertheless, this board is good entry level 32 bits board that I had for 2 years now, without issues. Cheers Robert N. canada

Whatever the reasons, they are alienating a huge number of people, and leaving a mountain of money on the table by not releasing some info on these things. And not just normal people, the more experienced people that they should really want using these things and showing others what they are capable of are the ones that wont buy it. Im no business major, but people seeing other people doing well with a product is about the best marketing you can ask for, and its pretty much free. You arent going to get this if the wrong people are the only ones who will purchase your product. Cut it loose, and watch it blossom =D

Its harsh, but the only people that would currently buy this board are people that dont really know what they are doing. They may think they do, but nobody that was truly at even an intermediate level with this stuff would buy a locked down board with handicapped firmware. This is the kind of thing that only somebody that was new to this stuff and throwing everything but the kitchen sink at their printer would buy. And they only do this because they dont know better. Another side effect of your primary user base not knowing what they are doing is, aside from a few shill posts, everything potential customers are going to find on the web are these inexperienced customers having problems. This is obviously not good.

"Entry level 32bit board", this is an oxymoron as far as I am concerned. Im sure the above mentioned sink throwers buy quite a few of these things solely because 32 is more bigger than 8, but anybody that truly has a use for 32bit is also going to be wanting the advanced firmware options and configurations that you just dont get with a closed source product. That right there is making their product irrelevant before it even gets off the factory floor. I know I wouldnt want to hang my hat on people buying the wrong product for their application for all my sales.

for those who want open source firmware on these types of boards. order one and donate it to the dev's. will make a port so much easier.
